Columbus, GA (March 25, 2014) – In their first “hometown beatdown” of the season, the Muscogee Roller Girls (MRG) claimed major victory in a 222-53 win over the Capital City Rollin’ Rebels (CCRR). Playing to a sold-out crowd, MRG was pumped to bring their skills back to the track in their beloved Fountain City after a season over the river in Phenix City.

From the starting jam whistle, MRG showed no mercy, quickly taking the lead with quick precision from our jammers and dominating wall techniques.

MRG continued firing on all cylinders in the second half, where the team’s lead jammers continuously pushed through the pack to rack up points in each jam, showing great endurance.

In the end, MRG’s jammers were just too quick for CCRR, which limited their comeback progress. All MRG jammers saw success this bout with MVP Jammer going to Cho Cold and MVP Blocker going to Handislap. CCRR could not regain control with constant trips to the penalty box, and MRG was able to control both offense and defense. Halftime featured a stellar performance from the Columbus Lady Lions Dance Team. The dance crew’s performance really rallied the crowd and was enjoyed by everyone. MRG celebrated their season opening win at the after party, which featured a rockin’ performance from the band Damn Skippy. The team will take on the Rome Rollergirls on Saturday, April 5, 2014 in Rome, GA.
